šŸ“‹ Veterinary Administration & Dosage Guidelines

Proper hygiene and precision are crucial when treating ocular conditions. Always consult a licensed veterinarian before starting treatment to rule out deeper corneal ulcers. [16]

General Guidance:

  • Application Frequency: Administer topically into the lower eyelid pocket 2 to 4 times daily, or as directed by your veterinarian. [17, 18, 19]
  • How to Apply: Clean any discharge around the eye with a warm, damp cloth. Pull down the lower eyelid gently and squeeze a small ribbon (approx. 1/2 inch) of ointment along the inside of the lid.
  • Hygiene Tip: Do not let the tip of the tube touch the animal’s eye, eyelids, or your fingers to prevent contamination of the remaining medicine. [20, 21]
  • Duration: Continue treatment for several days after clinical symptoms clear to ensure complete eradication of the infection. [22]

āš ļø Important Veterinary Health & Safety Information

  • Visual Description & Symptoms: The product is a sterile, smooth amber ointment packaged in a convenient 3.5g tube with a precise applicator tip. It is typically utilized when animals show clinical signs of eye infections, such as excessive tearing (epiphora), redness and swelling of the conjunctiva, or thick yellow/green discharge. [23, 24]
  • Three Alternative Treatment Options: Depending on the underlying cause of the eye issue, alternative treatments include:
    1. Steroid-free lubricating artificial tears for simple dry eye irritation or dust clearing.
    2. Triple Antibiotic Ophthalmic Ointments (containing Bacitracin, Neomycin, and Polymyxin B).
    3. Antiviral eye drops if the conjunctivitis is caused by a virus (such as Feline Herpesvirus in cats). [25, 26, 27, 28, 29]
  • Three Potential Side Effects: While generally very safe, watch for these potential adverse reactions:
    1. Mild local irritation or temporary stinging immediately after application.
    2. Anaphylactic reactions in cats: Rare but severe allergic reactions have been reported in felines using topical polymyxin B; monitor cats closely for swelling or breathing issues.
    3. Blurred vision right after application due to the thick ointment consistency (this is normal and temporary). [30, 31, 32, 33, 34]
  • Label Verification: Always verify the expiration date stamped on the crimp of the tube before application. Store at controlled room temperature and keep the cap tightly closed.
