Provide your dog with immediate, high-potency relief from acute vomiting and motion sickness with Cerenia Tablets. Powered by Maropitant Citrate, a highly advanced and targeted neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonist, Cerenia works directly inside the brain's emetic center to block Substance P—the key chemical messenger that triggers the vomiting reflex. Trusted by veterinarians worldwide, this fast-acting formula prevents and treats vomiting from diverse causes (including chemotherapy or dietary indiscretion) and completely stops car sickness. Delivered in a convenient 4-tablet blister pack, Cerenia ensures your dog enjoys comfortable, nausea-free travel and rapid recovery.

Key Product Benefits:

  • Direct Brain-Center Action: Blocks the absolute root cause of the vomiting reflex, providing vastly superior efficacy compared to standard human over-the-counter stomach protectants.
  • Gold-Standard Motion Sickness Defense: Clinically proven to completely prevent vomiting caused by motion sickness during car, boat, or airplane travel.
  • Non-Sedating Formula: Eliminates nausea and drooling without making your dog sleepy or lethargic, allowing them to remain alert and active.
  • Targeted Size Variations: Available in 16mg, 24mg, 60mg, and 160mg strengths, allowing for exact dosing tailored precisely to toy, medium, or giant dog breeds.

Active Ingredient Per Tablet:

  • Maropitant Citrate (Available in 16 mg, 24 mg, 60 mg, or 160 mg variants)

📋 Veterinary Administration & Dosage Guidelines

Cerenia requires strict dosage calibration based on your dog's current body weight and the specific underlying condition being treated. Always follow the explicit prescription plan provided by your veterinarian.

1. Dosing Protocol for Prevention & Treatment of Acute Vomiting:

  • Standard Dosage: Administered orally at a minimum dose of 2 mg/kg (0.9 mg/lb) of body weight.
  • Frequency: Administered once daily for up to 5 consecutive days.

2. Dosing Protocol for Prevention of Motion Sickness (Car/Travel Sickness):

  • Standard Dosage: Administered orally at a significantly higher minimum dose of 8 mg/kg (3.6 mg/lb) of body weight.
  • Timing Tip: Administer the tablet at least 2 hours before travel. To ensure maximum clinical success, give your dog a small, light meal or treat shortly before dosing; do not administer Cerenia on a completely empty stomach, as this can cause temporary nausea or delay pill absorption.
  • Duration: Administered once daily for a maximum of 2 consecutive days. Allow at least a 3-day rest period before repeating.

⚠️ Important Veterinary Health & Safety Information

  • Visual Description & Symptoms: The product consists of 4 small, peach-colored, oval tablets scored on the back and stamped with the respective milligram strength, safely enclosed in a child-resistant blister card within an official box. It is typically sought after when companion dogs show acute signs of gastric distress or travel anxiety, such as frequent vomiting or retching, excessive drooling and panting in the car, severe lip-licking (nausea), or lethargy caused by chemotherapy side effects.
  • Three Potential Side Effects: While exceptionally safe and widely tolerated across all canine breeds, monitor your dog for rare adverse reactions following administration:
    1. Mild gastrointestinal sensitivity: Mild diarrhea, loose stools, or a brief loss of appetite if administered on a completely dry stomach.
    2. Hypersalivation: Brief drooling immediately after swallowing the pill if the tablet is chewed or broken in the mouth (due to a bitter chemical taste).
    3. Mild sedation: Very rarely reported, slight sluggishness at the elevated motion sickness dosage level (8mg/kg).
  • Age & Pre-Existing Illness Restrictions: Do not use in puppies younger than 8 weeks of age for acute vomiting, and do not use in puppies younger than 16 weeks of age for the elevated motion sickness dose, as it can cause abnormal bone marrow development in very young animals. Use with extreme caution and close monitoring in dogs with pre-existing severe liver insufficiency, as maropitant is heavily metabolized by the liver. Always verify the milligram strength and the expiration date on the blister pack before use.
