respiratory (pneumonia, tonsillitis, laryngitis, sinusitis).
Mode of action
Cefadroxil is a semi-synthetic cephalosporin from the group of beta-lactam antibiotics that causes the lysis of bacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of peptidoglycan in the bacterial cell wall.
It is resistant in the presence of beta-lactamase produced by some bacteria (eg penicillin-resistant staphylococci) and in the acidic environment of the stomach.
It is very well absorbed after oral administration.
It has a high degree of hydro and fat solubility quickly reaches (1-2 hours) maximum blood levels, diffusing in most tissues.
In healthy tissues the distribution is limited to the extracellular fluid, and in the inflamed ones the cells also penetrate.
Over 50% of the orally administered dose is actively excreted in the urine after 24 hours.
Doses and method of administration
It is administered orally to dogs and cats in a daily dose of 20 mg / kg body weight.
A single administration per day is sufficient in most cases.
The total daily dose can be divided into two doses per day.
In severe cases, the daily dose can be doubled without risk, and it is recommended to take it in two doses.
Treatment should be continued for at least 48 hours after the disappearance of fever or other symptoms.
